 Gharles Darnay stood in the courtroom. He stood in front of the judge and the jury. Doctor Manette,Lucie and Mr Lorry sat at the back of the courtroom.

A lawyer stood up. The lawyer spoke to the judge and the jury....

 One day Manette and his daugher went to the courtroom as witnesses. Its suit was about Darnay. Darnay was doubted that he was a spy, because he was a French and he visited to France and the UK. But his lawyer incited a man who looked like Darnay and they won the trial. After that, they and Manette and his daughter came to have relationship. The more time passed, the more complex their relationship was.

Grace Daring

  Grace's mother came into the room, and heard him. "You can't go, William!" she said.  "Grace is only a girl. Look at that sea! You'll both drown!"

 "We have to try, mother!" said Grace angrily. "Think of those poor people, alone on that rock. We live on a lighthouse-it's our job!"

This book seems to be based on a real story. 

 A big and gorgeous liner shipped in stormy sea. It came not to be able to ship more because of accident of engine. 

 Then, Grace and her father found it from a lighthouse, and they were brave. They tried to help the liner and its passengers. But her mother thought that it was too dangerous for them to go and help them. However they decided to do it. After all they could help the passengers.

  Catherine smiled at Morris Townsend , but she did not speak. The young man bowed.

  "I'm happy to meet you," he said. "This is a very good party. But why aren't you dancing, Miss Sloper? Will you dance with me?"

 This book is about a relationship between a good or bad man and Catherine. Her father was a doctor and he had much money, but he didn't have his wife who was intelligence and beautiful, because her wife died. His daughter, Catherine, was not like her mother. He always worried about her that someone got married her.

 Then, in this party, she met a man who was Morris. They became friends and finally they was willing to get marry. But her father doubted that he really loved her, he aimed at money of her father. After all they could get marry or not...

Anne of Green Gables

  Anne was silent for a few minutes. Then she said, "Marilla, do you think I'll find a best friend in Avenlea? Someone who really understands me and knows all my secrets. I've always wanted a friend like that."

 Somehow Anne went to the house of Green Gables. Firstly she and they were confused by it, but the more they live with, the more they trust each other, they came to love Anne. Anne was raised up in beautiful environment. 

 This scene is that Anne was nervous and she worried whether she could have friends or not. She thought her hair complex, but she met some good friends and she had a good time at school and there.

The Adventure of Tom Sawyer

  Tom got dressed quickly. He climbed out of the window. HE jumped to the ground. Huck was there. He was carrying his dead cat. Huck and Tom walked very quietly away from the house.

 This book seems to be known well. But I have never read the book until this semester even Japanese one. 

 This scene is that Tom and Huck went to a grave with a dead cat. Then they saw a man kill people. The man is Injun Joe. He run away. He tried to blame it on the other man who was totally drunk. But Tom said the truth in the court. After that, Tom and his friends went to a cave. Somehow they met Joe there, although he run away...

The Piano

 

 This book is about a boy who has a talent to play the piano. He was sent to a farm to help the owner. There are more children to help him. One day, they are told to clean a big room. It is a garage. The boy found a piano there. Then he wanted to play it and actually played it. There came to a girl and listened to it. She was impressed  with it. She suggested he practice it.  After all he practiced playing the piano at a university hard and he became a good player. He won the competition. He and the girl finally got married.

Sherlock Holmes Short Stories

 At the time of this story, I was still living at my friend Sherlock Holmes's flat in Baker Street in London. Very early one morning, a young woman, dressed in black, came to see us. She looked tired and unhappy, and her face was very white.

 This book consists of three stories. All of the stories begin with like this. Someone who have a trouble comes to Sherlock Holmes and asks him to help them.

 The first story is The Speckled Band. Its content is about the death. One family had a trouble. Two sisters have a stepfather. The one of sisters died by someone and the others came to be afraid, and asked Holmes to help herself. According to him, something not a human killed her. Later, her stepfather died because of same reason. After all he found what killed them. It was a snake. 

 The second one is A Scandal in Bohemia. This story begins with a king's request. He had had a good time with a woman who he had not so loved. But a picture about them remained. The King would like the woman not to show the picture to anyone. So he asked Holmes to help himself.

 The last one is The Five Orange Pips. This story is also about the death. A boy's uncle received a letter includes five pips. Somehow the uncle died two weeks later after he received it. And the boy received the same letter. Then he asked Holmes to help himself. After all he could find what it is and who it is.

The Death of Karen Silkwood

 "Can I take you in my car?" asked her friend Bob. "No thanks," said Karen. "I've got my car here."

 It was dark when Karen left the factory. She smiled at all her friends, got into her small white car and drove away. 

 Karen never arrived at her meeting with Drew, Pete and the journalist from the New York Times. On the road to the meeting, a few miles from the nuclear factory, she had an accident by a wall near the river. It was November 13th, 1974. Nobody ever found the brown envelop.

 This book is based on a real story. A woman, Karen Silkwood, seemed to die by an accident. But it is a mystery whether it is accident or not. Karen worked at a nuclear factory. It is of course dangerous to work. If some nuclear attached someone's cloth, they have to wash their body hard. One day Karen found the safety system of the factory was wrong. Then the brown envelop was a key. She thought she would take it to the New York Times and report it. But during driving her car, she had an accident and she died. The brown envelop never arrived to the New York Times.
