At the time of this story, I was still living at my friend Sherlock Holmes's flat in Baker Street in London. Very early one morning, a young woman, dressed in black, came to see us. She looked tired and unhappy, and her face was very white.
This book consists of three stories. All of the stories begin with like this. Someone who have a trouble comes to Sherlock Holmes and asks him to help them.
The first story is The Speckled Band. Its content is about the death. One family had a trouble. Two sisters have a stepfather. The one of sisters died by someone and the others came to be afraid, and asked Holmes to help herself. According to him, something not a human killed her. Later, her stepfather died because of same reason. After all he found what killed them. It was a snake.
The second one is A Scandal in Bohemia. This story begins with a king's request. He had had a good time with a woman who he had not so loved. But a picture about them remained. The King would like the woman not to show the picture to anyone. So he asked Holmes to help himself.
The last one is The Five Orange Pips. This story is also about the death. A boy's uncle received a letter includes five pips. Somehow the uncle died two weeks later after he received it. And the boy received the same letter. Then he asked Holmes to help himself. After all he could find what it is and who it is.
