英語教育講義④

   今回の講義の感想は日本語で行きます。


 今回は学習者要因に関する物だったが、1つ疑問に感じることがあった。授業中にもしつこいくらいに食いついて質問したが、どうも、曖昧さの耐性についてしっかり理解ができなかった。先生が言っていたことは素直に理解できたしどのようなものかは大体分かったが、考えれば考えるほど曖昧さの耐性という言葉や定義自体が曖昧だなと感じた。と、このように考え込んでいる時点で私の曖昧さの耐性は低い。授業でも言ったが、曖昧さをある程度許容して次に進んでいったほうが身につくという言葉を聞いた一部の子供(私のように都合よく解釈する子供)は、もしわからないことがあっても、曖昧にして次に進んだほうがいいのなら理解するまで頑張る必要はない。と都合よく解釈してしまいそうだ。それは趣旨と違う気がする。しかし先生が、次に進んでもいいけどどこかで引っかかる。と仰っていた。少し腑に落ちた。だからある程度曖昧なことも許容して、割り切って次に進んでいったほうがたくさんのことを吸収できるのかなと思った。でもその曖昧さの許容なのか、ただの妥協なのかという境界線を引くのはとても難しいと思った。

英語教育講義③

  Today's topic was the influence of native languages.

  Honestly I have never been to other countries and hardly communicated with foreign people. But I have studied English and German lately. Studying them, I find some differences between Japanese and these languages. As someone said, Japanese students are shy and not willing to ask questions. I think that teachers want us to speak more, but we often can't speak in classes.

  I have heard that English and German are similar, actually they are similar, I think. But I have trouble in understanding German gramatics, because of similrity between them.

  Finally, I come to think that I will make my child(ren) listen to English when they are baby. Babies seem to absorb anything. I believe it will make them easy to understand English in their scool lives.

英語教育講義②

  Although I wrote the blog in Japanese last week, I will write this in English.

  Today's topic was about "motivation". As I said in class, I had studied English for Center Exam alone in my class, when I was a high school student. I had been sad, but a teacher who graduated from Kyoto University stuied with me. He have often said that studying is interesting. I came to think so too. Originally I am a very curious man. As I said to Yoshi sensei last year, I work at a sport shop and I would have to change the strings of tennis and badminton rackets. It was from my curiousity. Now that I can change them, I would like to do more things at my part-time job.

  As to studying, I would often be curious, and I would like to know all things about studying. I dislike that there are things which I can't do. So I would like to manage to do all thing as much as I can. It is not only about studying but about working.

  The idea I make students curious and inspire them is to teach them that studying is very interesting. It is just thing all I can do for students, I think.
